This Privacy Notice sets out how we collect and process information about you when you contact Legacy Life Cover (LLC) in respect of making an enquiry about setting up life insurance cover.

We will only use personal data that we collect in line with applicable UK laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018 and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regs (PECR) in respect of marketing to you.

We only ask for, or collect your personal information, to help us run and improve our services, and to ensure that you receive the most appropriate product for your life insurance needs. We only collect information that is necessary to share with our Life Insurance partner, and we are committed to handling it responsibly.

We also want to reassure you that we keep your data safe. We follow strict rules to protect your information from unauthorised access or unlawful use. In this notice, you will find detailed information about the types of data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information. Thank you for trusting us with your data, and we hope you find our services helpful.

Who we are

We are Legacy Life Cover Ltd (company registration number 15097881) and our registered office is: Flat 19 Stevens Terrace, 45 St. Pauls Square, Birmingham, England, B3 1QS. We are also registered with the Information Commissioners Office (registration number ZB694589).

LLC is an introducer to Advice Wise Ltd, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registration number 839690. Full Terms and Conditions in respect of Advice Wise limited can be found at www.advicewiseifa.co.uk

We are a marketing company which receives payments from a panel of companies to fund management and marketing activities, which generate enquiries and referrals to the panel of companies which include Advice Wise Ltd.

We are unique in our approach – we work with a number charity partners to channel pledged support to them when people decide to leave a gift to their charity of choice as part of their life cover.

We want to explain and make sure you understand:

  • what personal information we collect about you,
  • how we may use it lawfully,
  • the purpose(s) that we use it for,
  • who we may share it with, essentially our suppliers and our partner in Advicewise
  • how long we will keep it for and
  • your rights in respect of us getting this right and how you can contact us if you feel we haven’t done so.

What personal data do we collect about from you?

Personal data is information that is capable of identifying you, directly or indirectly, as an individual – on its own or in combination with other information.

  1. Identity information -your name
  2. Telephone number(s) (mobile and/ or landline)
  3. Your email address(es)
  4. Records of your communications with us
  5. Marketing and Communication data e.g. whether you have opened an email from us, or your expressed contact preferences

What information about you do we receive from Advice Wise?:

If you decide to proceed with a policy for life cover through Advice Wise following a referral from LLC, Advice Wise will share the following information to LCC in respect of your policy:

  1. Your Date of Birth/s[1]
  2. Whether it is a single or joint policy
  3. Your postal address
  4. The amount of cover
  5. The policy term
  6. Your monthly premium
  7. The type of policy purchased
  8. Which charity a gift has been pledged to
  9. Whether the policy provider has requested a medical report
  10. Some aggregate general information about policy holders’ health e.g. high blood pressure, history of heart disease or stroke although this is not attributed to individual clients
  11. Whether any children have special needs (yes/no only) – no details about children

What other data do we collect and share when you visit our website?

When you use our website, we collect very limited information about your website usage. We do have some cookies that support the smooth and secure flow of information between LLC and AdviceWise, but do not track your engagement through analytics products.

How do we use the data we collect about you?

We use your personal data for a number of purposes, including the following:

  • To provide requested services and information to you
  • To analyse your engagement with us in order to provide appropriate leads to selected
  • To keep a record of, and to respond to, any communications with you or enquiry from you
  • To send you marketing information about our products and services that you may be interested in
  • To ensure we do not send unwanted information if you have informed us that you do not want to be contacted
  • To comply with applicable law and regulations

We’re allowed to process your data for one or more of these lawful reasons:

  • Where you have requested marketing information from us (Consent) or
  • Engaged with us in respect potential life cover, we may send you marketing information that we consider relevant to you (Legitimate Interest)
  • To analyse and understand how you engage with us, so as to provide you with tailored marketing information. We consider that we have a legitimate interest in segmenting your engagement in this way and always balance our use of this lawful basis against your lawful data protection rights and freedoms
  • Where we transfer your information to our Customer Relationship Management product is the EU (which is backed up to the USA), we consider that in providing your information to us you are entering a contractual relationship
  • We will always give you the option to opt-out of receiving marketing messages from us, and you may opt-out of receiving marketing messages from Advice Wise or life insurance providers by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email received

Who do we share information with?

Suppliers and processors:

Our website partner is Zephi Limited. Zephi provide marketing support to us and your data may be accessible to them in order to provide support services. Zephi are a UK based company and do not process your data outside of providing support services to LLC. Their privacy notice is here.

Where you decide to pledge a legacy gift to a charity, we will advise them of generic information about pledges made, but we do not share any personal information with them.

Some organisations may sometimes use your data for their own purposes such as analytics, fraud prevention, improving their services through the use of AI and machine learning models, and compliance with local legal and regulatory requirements.

Where you may have requested information about a product or service from Advicewise, you may receive marketing emails direct from .

How long do we keep your information for?

  • Your policy and personal details: Where you take out a policy through LLC, we will retain your details for the duration of the policy plus seven years. If you apply but do not follow the policy application process to its conclusion, we will retain your partial policy application details for two years from the date that you exit the application process. We may retain your contact details beyond that time for marketing purposes, but you may unsubscribe at any time.

Your rights regarding your personal information

You have a number of rights under UK data protection law. These are listed below, along with our contact details, should you wish to make a request.

  • Informed: You have the right to be informed about how we handle your personal data.  This privacy statement is one of the ways we do this.
  • Access: You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you and the purposes for which we are using it. ‘Personal data’ is any information which can directly, or indirectly, identify you.
  • Rectification: You have the right to ask us to change any details that we hold which are incorrect, inaccurate or need updating.
  • Erasure (known as the ‘right to be forgotten’): You have the right to ask us to delete your personal details under certain circumstances. We will assess any deletion request on a case-by-case basis. If you subscribe to our email list, we can quickly fulfil your request, but in other circumstances there may be reasons why we need to keep information about you.
  • Object: You have the absolute right to object to receiving direct marketing from us.  You also have the right to raise an objection about how we are handling your personal information, and in these circumstances, you have the following further right:
  • Restriction: You have the right to ask us to restrict or suppress your personal information. This would mean we’d store it but not use it.
  • Portability: You have the right to obtain and reuse your personal data for your own purposes across different services

You also have the right to make a complaint if you believe we have not handled your information appropriately. We would prefer that you contact us in the first instance so we can discuss your concerns and put things right, but you also have the right to escalate your concerns at any time to the UK Regulator (The Information Commissioner’s Office) by contacting them here

How to update your marketing consent

We make it easy for you to tell us if you would like to receive marketing communications from us and we will not send you marketing materials if you tell us that you do not wish to receive it. The easiest way to reject marketing emails is to simply hit the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any marketing materials received or you can simply email advice@legacylifecover.org  and we’ll do it for you.

Our promise to you

We will only use your information for the purposes for which it was obtained. We will not, under any circumstances, share or sell your personal data with any third party for their own marketing purposes.

How we keep your data safe

We ensure there are appropriate technical and organisational controls in place to protect your personal details both within our organisation and with the suppliers we use to process your information during programme participation.
